What is a trauma?

Any distressing or life-threatening event can stay with us and be a trauma e.g  attack, stressful event, abuse, medical procedure, accident, or animal attack. Or anything that we believe to fall into this category.

What are the symptoms of trauma?

  • Flashbacks

  • Negative thinking

  • Nightmares and poor sleep

  • Fears 

  • Anxiety

  • Anger

  • Panic

  • Doubting yourself

  • Hypervigilance

  • Physical pain

  • Low mood

  • Stomach issues (IBS)

  • Fight or flight response

  • Withdrawal from friends

  • Developing coping strategies (alcohol, drugs, comfort eating etc.)

Why should we get rid of  trauma?

Trauma is like a snapshot in the brain, it keeps coming back over and over again when it's triggered and won't let you enjoy life. Think of it as the memory notifications on your phone.

It also weakens your hippocampus (the part of the brain where your memories are stored) and can make you more likely to suffer from Alzheimer's or have other brain-related illnesses.

Why my approach works : 

When it comes to trauma is not the facts of the traumatic event that’s hurting - it's the emotion around it that is unbearable.

We cannot change the past but we can change how you feel about the situation so it doesn't bother you anymore or hold you back in life.

  • It does not matter which domino you take out as the whole trauma pattern will still collapse and won't matter anymore.

  • You don’t need to share your traumatic memories with me and you don’t need to relieve them.
